Full detail in the data atlas. Sportsbooks: none yet: ESPN publishes no tennis lines. No sportsbook lines for tennis.

Why trust it

Built from the score, and honest about what the score cannot tell.

ESPN publishes results and rankings for tennis, not serve statistics. Everything here is counted from scores we check, and nothing is filled in where the source is silent.

Every set

Scores checked against the result line

Each match's sets are stored game by game with tiebreak points, then rebuilt into a score and compared with the result line ESPN prints for the match: 99.8% agree. Records ESPN left mid-match are marked incomplete and counted in no record or rating.

2007

Both tours, every season since

ATP and WTA singles as ESPN lists them, main draws from 2007 and qualifying from 2022, with seeds, rounds, retirements and walkovers, and the weekly top 100 to 150.

By surface

Ratings that know clay from grass

Our Elo is computed twice for every player: once from every match, once from matches on the same surface only. Surfaces come from our own tournament reference; a tournament we cannot place stays unknown rather than guessed.

Questions

The things people ask before signing up.

Is TiebreakAPI free?

Every account starts with 500 credits and no card. Calls cost 1 to 5 credits depending on the endpoint, so 500 is a few hundred real requests. Paid plans start at $19/mo for 10,000 credits a month, and wallet top-ups never expire.

How far back does the data go?

ATP and WTA singles from 2007 to the tournaments under way now, as ESPN lists them (main draws from 2007, qualifying from 2022): every set and tiebreak score, the draw round by round, and ESPN's weekly top 100 to 150. There is nothing before 2007, no doubles, no serve statistics (aces, double faults, break points) and no sportsbook lines: ESPN publishes none of those for tennis.

What is MCP, and do I need it?

MCP is the protocol Claude, Cursor and similar assistants use to call tools. Point one at https://mcp.tiebreakapi.com/mcp with your key and it picks the endpoint and reads the response itself — no client code. If you are writing an application instead, ignore MCP and use the REST endpoints; they are the same 13 tools.

Can I use this commercially?

Yes, inside your own product or model, within the terms. Reselling the data itself as a feed is not permitted. TiebreakAPI is independent and not affiliated with the ATP or the WTA.

How current is it?

One update a day, early morning US Eastern (10:00 UTC): the year's tournaments, every result and the schedule as ESPN has it, the newest ranking list, new players' profiles and the ratings. There is no live, point-by-point feed; a match in progress shows the score at the time of the update.

Where do the numbers come from?

Results, draws, players and ranking lists from public ESPN data. Every match's sets are checked against ESPN's own result line. Surfaces come from our own tournament reference; records, head to head, surface splits and the Elo ratings are computed here from the scores.

What are the rate limits?

60 requests a minute, dropping to 10 if your credit balance falls below 100. The limit is the same on every plan — credits, not requests, are the spend boundary.
